In March we celebrated our 5th anniversary. The last 5 years have been quite a journey of life for us and what better way to commemorate it than by…going on a journey? We spent weeks upon weeks dreaming, planning and researching what would be the most memorable and experience packed trip we could make in a few days. We only gave ourselves 4 days for our vacation (6 with travel days) because our toddler son Isaac stayed with the grandparents and we didn’t want to be away from him for too long since it was his first time away from us. We considered cruises and various international destinations, but when it came down to it, we both agreed that we wanted to make it more about doing something really fun together and making memories instead of just lounging around on a ship or at a resort somewhere. Those things are nice, but we wanted some adventure. We’ve both always wanted to visit California so when the idea to drive the Pacific Coast Highway came up, our search was over.
If you’ve never seen it or thought of it, just go ahead and put it on your bucket list right now…
We flew in to San Francisco on a Thursday and flew home from San Diego on a Monday. We quickly realized when we arrived in Cali however, that 4 days is not nearly enough time to do this trip any justice at all. There’s just so much fun to be had and so much beauty to take in. We’ve already resolved to make a return trip in a few years and give ourselves a few weeks to really do it right.
But aside from the details of the trip itself, the best part was making these memories with my best friend. Memories are important to us. We’re firm believers that the true richness in life is not in riches at all, but in living life to its fullest and enjoying God’s creative beauty.
